  • The Foxford Woollen Mills has been selected by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland to exhibit at the prestigious New York exhibition, NY NOW@2018.

    It’s one of seven Irish designers chosen.

    As one of the last working mills in Ireland ,Foxford Woollen Mills continues to create throws, scarves and blankets known internationally.

    Foxford Woollen Mills is actually returning to NY NOW, having exhibited in the influential Accent on Designs area at the exhibition in 2015.

    NY NOW@2018 takes place at Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre in the city from Sunday next to Wednesday ( Aug 12 -15th).

    Joe Queenan is the Managing Director of the Foxford Woollen, he told  Midwest News today that the major US trade fair is a unique opportunity for the Foxford brand to meet with existing customers and establish new business with trade buyers and talk to key members of the media attending the show.

  • A Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor says he will run as an Independent candidate in next year's local elections, if he cannot represent Fianna Fail.

    Councillor Joe Queenan has confirmed that he received an email from party headquarters yesterday to say his name will not be going forward for the Fianna Fail selection convention for the Ballymote/Tubbercurry area, while an investigation is underway by SIPO - the Standards in Public Office Commission.

    Councillor Queenan faced counts of breaching ethics' legislation following an undercover investigation by the RTE Investigates Programme.

    While this process is ongoing, Councillor Queenan told Midwest News he cannot contest next year's local elections for Fianna Fail, but will run as an Independent candidate otherwise.....
