Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a break-in to the Applegreen Filling Station in Foxford overnight.
At around 12.30am two intruders gained entry to the filling station and activated the alarm system in doing so, Ballina Gardai were on patrol in the area at the time and responded to the call within minutes. The intruders fled the scene after trying to gain access to the ATM on site.
Nothing was taken in the incident and Gardai say the two men gained entry to the filling station via a side window which was blocked up.
The intruders were wearing dark clothes, with their faces covered and are described as tall and thin.
There was no sign of any vehicle in the vicinity of the filling station.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area last night or seen any vehicle in the area around that time to contact them in Foxford on 094-92-56102, Ballina on 096-20650 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
