Bank of Ireland have announced the closure of 28 service centres around the country - affecting 419 employees.

The centres provide administratoin and support services to the bank's customers and are due to close by the end of the year.

Locations affected include Mayo, Cork, Tipperary and Dublin, with the roles being centralised as part of restructuring efforts.

In a statement, the bank say affected staff will be able to apply for new roles within the company or early retirement options.
