Taoiseach Leo Varadker has given the opening address at the 2-day Fine Gael think-in, which is taking place in Galway.
The Parliamentary Party is meeting in Salthill, ahead of the start of the new Dáil term, and discussions will focus on Fine Gael's Budget priorities, housing and homelessness and Brexit.
Addressing the party, the Taoiseach said it's prudent for Fine Gael to prepare for a general election.
It comes as the future of the Confidence and Supply arrangement with Fianna Fail remains unclear.
Leo Varadkar says his party isn't 'battle ready' for an election but they are making arrangements, with candidates selected in all but four constituencies.
