Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) are again being asked to reduce the speed limit at Breaffy National School Castlebar, located along the busy N60.

Castlebar Councillor Cyril Burke insists the speed limit at Breaffy urgently needs to be reduced from 100km to 60 km per hour, or he says lives will be lost at school drop off and pick up times.

He raised the matter at the monthly meeting of Castlebar Municipal District and his call was supported by councillors present.

Road enhancement works by the TII have just been completed in the village of Breaffy, introducing a one way system around the church, however, the new traffic measures have not reduced concerns around safety at the school.
