A Halloween road safety message has been issued by AA Ireland, ahead of tomorrow's celebrations.

Drivers are asked to reduce their speed tomorrow evening, particularly in built-up areas, and be on the lookout for children who could step onto the street without looking.

Parents are urged to keep a close eye on their children while trick-or-treating, while pet owners are encouraged to keep their animals inside to avoid them being startled by fireworks and darting out in front of traffic.

Gardai are also reminding people about the dangers associated with fireworks, and the penalties that people face if using illegal fireworks - including fines and imprisonment.
