The residents of Summerfield estate in Castlebar are still waiting for public lighting and a public footpath at the entrance to the estate.
That’s according to Independent local election candidate Harry Barrett.
Mr Barrett says that while on a recent canvass of the estate, residents pointed out to him what he described as the most dangerous stretch of road in the town.
He says young children are expected to walk about 100m without a public footpath or lighting to get to school in the morning and the same in the evening.
Mr Barrett says it is an accident waiting to happen.
He has called on Mayo County Council to address the issue and spoke to Angelina Nugent about his concerns.
