The Mayo Ladies County Board voted at their monthly meeting last night to appeal the decision of the Connacht LGFA Council Appeals Committee to reinstate Carnacon Ladies back into the Mayo LGFA League and Championship.

The County Board voted by a margin of 30 votes to 3, with 7 abstentions, to appeal the decision to the full Connacht Council.

Carnacon - the reigning county, provincial and national senior champions  - were thrown out of the competitions last month for allegedly bringing the game into disrepute when eight members of the club left the Mayo Senior Ladies panel after the Connacht LGFA Senior Final defeat to Galway earlier this Summer.

Yesterday evening, the remaining members of the panel released a statement backing manager Peter Leahy, and that statement can be read in full here - Mayo Ladies 2018 Championship Panel release statement
