Galway GAA are on the look-out for a new full time Secretary after John Hynes announced last night he was stepping down from his role for personal reasons after 7 years, having become the first full-time secretary in the county at the end of 2011.

Hynes contacted Galway GAA club secretaries last night to announce the decision and allow time for nominations for the vacancy to be filled at the upcoming Convention in December.

His departure comes with the imminent publication of a report compiled by a sub-committee of the Galway County Board, on the findings of an internal audit they conducted on the county board's finances.

Seamus O’Grady will fulfil the role in a temporary capacity until that Convention.
